Alinn Bhamo Local Development Organization

ALinn Bhamo Local Development Organization, established in October 2014, is based in Bhamo (also spelt Banmaw) in Kachin State. Bhamo is linked to Yunan province on the east in China-Myanmar border, the Mandalay-Myitkyina Railway to the West, Myitkyina to the North and Waingmaw Township, Shan State and Sagaing Region to the South. ALinn Bamaw envisions a peaceful, and just society through holistic development.

Objectives

​

  • To empower people to be aware of their rights, capable of analyzing and identifying their own community problems and needs, and finding possible solutions on their own

  • To enable community members to form village development committees and work collaboratively with each other to develop village project plans

  • To ensure stronger women participation in village development projects with higher capacity, and enhance food security and livelihood of the village

  • To empower villagers with capacity and skills for natural resource management and proper use of resources

  • To strengthen network amongst village development committees and NGOs as well as with governmental institutions for mutual learning and cooperation

  • To establish community-based organizations that create, manage and implement quality livelihood and income generation projects
